Dawn, our Master Engraver has a friend who is a re-enactor as well as a machinist who makes and sells things to other re-enactors. Buttons were a needed commodity as the original pewter had not lasted well.
The button in question was from the 42nd Scottish Regiment. Her friend gave Dawn a photograph from a book on the French & Indian War history and uniforms. The book was specific to buttons (!). So she scanned it and with our digitizing software did a lot of manipulation and made an exact pattern of the button.
Her friend, the machinist, made the basic brass pocket and the she engraved the image into the soft brass so that the resulting buttons are exact replicas and now those desirous of buying ‘real’ French & Indian War 42nd Regiment buttons can do so!
